What is an Orthodontist?
An orthodontist is a dentist who has met highly specific criteria to be accepted in to a highly competitive three year university post graduate education and training program to become specialists in aligning jaws and straightening teeth. They have the expert knowledge of new and emerging technologies to create beautiful smiles and faces.
A general dentist receives broad training across all fields of dentistry, however they are not a specialist in aligning jaws and straightening teeth. Dentists are often the first to recognise that you may have an orthodontic problem. By working together, an orthodontist and dentist can together help you achieve the best results for your general dental health (dentist) and your smile and face (orthodontist).
